Information on Joining
You found this page because you're interested in also putting something onto the compost. That's great, we'll be happy to hear about your idea!
compost should be a place for people from different backgrounds and with different levels of experience. This page aims to write down some of the questions that come up often in this process.
How to set up your space
The setup process is done manually by a handful of different people. Either one of us will grab any mail written to yeah@compost.party.
Try to answer the following questions in your mail. Don't worry about the answer, it's just so we have a better idea about how to be helpful:
- What is the idea you have for compost? Have you done something like that before? Does it have a name?
- Have you ever run something on a server or edited a website? If yes, how was your experience?
- Would you say you have technical background? Have you ever used an FTP program, or do you know what SSH is?
What you get
- A subdomain, yourname.compost.party
- Some webspace on an old phone
- SSH Access that can be used to upload files or get a shell
- A full user account on an actual web server; use it to host static websites, start http servers, run scripts to check the current rainfall ...
We're glad to see people excited about this, and we're happy to provide help and guidance to our own capacity.
